Our 2014 Summer Session is now open for enrollment, please enjoy all the unique offerings we have this year.
PLEASE NOTE: As of May 1, all Metalsmithing courses will have a materials fee. We have never charged one since we started but due to cost out of our control we must start. Each workshop description will show the estimated material fee for that class. Thank you
ALSO !! As of July 14, we will be moving into our newly renovated Blacksmithing shop, "The Forge" will open its doors for the first Blacksmithing course July 22. This is the biggest event since the NESM started. Thanks to you we have grown and now you will benefit from a truly premier educational experience in our new facility.
Summer Session at the New England School of Metalwork truly shines. We pride ourselves on offering you a wide array of nationally known, professional artist and craftsmen spanning all areas for you to choose from. Workshops run from 8 am to 5 pm daily with a one hour break for lunch (if you can stay away from the forge that long). Most of the blacksmithing workshops offered run 4 to 5 days in length. While in season and accessible, our Summer Session Workshops offer a dinner and slide night; we gather outside the shop for a traditional Maine Lobster bake followed by a slide presentation of the visiting instructor. What better way to replenish all those vitamins lost through hours of sweating than by having a fresh lobster and clam dinner. Visit our Student Gallery to see the wonderful groups of students and their work from past years. Safety is of great importance, a full leather shoe or boot is mandatory as well as full length pants. NESM will provide any necessary PPE needed including safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, dust masks and face shields.
