In this workshop students will be making Kiridashi; a traditional Japanese utility knife that is used for woodworking and every day cutting chores. These Kiridashi will be made of 100 year old local wrought iron with a forge welded high carbon edge. These projects will be polished and etched to reveal the beauty of the iron. A great class for smiths who want to experiment with both laminated tools and knives.  Each student can expect to complete at least one piece. This is a beginner workshop. No forging experience necessary, but it is helpful.
