Part-time Blacksmithing Instructor
Colby College invites applications for a Blacksmithing Instructor for the 2011 January Program at the Colby-Hume Center forge beginning January 3, 2011. The successful candidate will work with a small group of students full time during the month of January, providing oversight for the facility, instruct students in the basic skills of blacksmithing and oversee student projects. Duties include maintaining a course curriculum and syllabus, developing methods for assessing student work and providing safety instruction. Some budgetary oversight and inventory management of materials will be required as well as preparing an annual report for the program.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in the mechanical and design aspects of blacksmithing and have a demonstrated commitment to education and safety.

TIG Welder NEEDED
 
GENERAL DUTIES:
Weld and manufacture tight tolerance Aluminum and Stainless Steel Components / Assemblies in accordance with customer / internal drawings and specifications.
 
KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:
Experience in TIG welding of high purity Stainless Steel / Aluminum Components / Assemblies required. The candidate will be required to read and interpret drawings, manufacturing processes, and procedures. Experienced with common welding, and measuring equipment, and a through knowledge of common welding standards is required. Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License required.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position will require manual labor including but not limited to Lifting Heavy Objects, Standings, Walking, and Sitting for sustained periods of time. Clean climate controlled manufacturing environment.
 
Currently AXENICS hours of operations are Monday thru Thursday 6:00AM to 4:30 PM.
 
Machining capabilities are a plus.
