Mobile Weld Training Center

Mobile Weld Training Center

For several years as the school has been developing, we have been aware of the unique geographic challenges of New England. Manufactures and companies that utilize welding and its technologies are spread out over a large area and it is often difficult or costly for these companies to send their employees for the much needed or desired training to continue to grow. As such, we have begun construction on a Mobile Weld Training Center. This training center will be a fully self sufficient facility capable of training up to eight students at a time any where you want. Housing its own power supply, welding gases, welding coupon supply, compressed air, fume extraction system, welding electrodes, heat and A/C and even its own store. It is designed to not only give the hands on training but will also serve as a classroom for trade theory, technical data and safety training. It will also act as an AWS weld certification lab in the future. For more information and schedules of cost for custom training availability please call Warren Swan: Welding Program Director at 207-753-1360.

As the concept of the Mobile Weld Training Center began to become reality, we knew its success could only be assured by having the right person managing this endeavor. Ron Guimond was hired on to instruct, manage and promote the Mobile Weld Training Center. Ron has an in depth background in several areas of the welding industry, he was one of the primary sources of developing the design of the MWTC has established a top notch and unique opportunity for any company, manufacture or school to acquire the training they need.

One of the core missions of the Mobile Weld Training Center is to provide much needed exposure of the welding industry to young people throughout New England. It is no secret that the traditional trades and hand minded skill classes of most school systems is failing or nonexistent all together. The baby boomer's make up over 70% of the work force in the welding industry and will soon be retiring. This will leave New England with a glut of skilled workers in an already lacking work force based on the need and job opportunities.

We are developing a grant seeking program to fund the Future Welders Outreach Program. Our mission is to provide the MWTC free of charge to schools wanting or needing to expose young people to the high paying world of Welding. Our hope is to roll out to at least a dozen schools in 2009, providing young people with the opportunity to see and feel what its like to enter the welding industry; no better place than a state of the art facility like this one. You may make a tax deductible donation to the Future Welders Outreach Program by calling 207-777-3375, your support will strengthen many young peoples futures as well as keeping the welding industry of America strong.
